Mother, Our Life Line

Celebrating Mother’s Day is a very modern world concept but a noble one. Moms have always been our lifeline, our support, our mentors, our best friends. We celebrate Mother’s Day this May 8th , since this day is absolutely close to my heart, I thought of sharing some workday ideas with the readers which are easy to implement.

Following are a list of idea that can be implemented very easily and will surely have a positive impact at workplace :

A thank you note from the CEO or HR sent across to all working moms. This is a great way of reinstating your belief in them and letting them know how much they mean to the organization and how they are an integral part of your growth story

– If possible frame their Family portrait at their desk, nice surprise for them at the start of their day will just do wonders and make them smile for sure.

Invite their family members, especially their kids to office and let them see their work-spaces, meet their office friends and mingle with their peers, colleagues and bosses. Good way of integrating the extended family. You could also have a fun photo booth for the families, they can carry those memories back with them

– Organize a special lunch for all the working moms, if possible, tie-up with different outlets which can offer them discount on products, services. As I am sure, this group wouldn’t mind extra pampering and love.

– If possible invite a keynote speaker who can talk to them about career aspirations, work-life balance and the group can share tips with each other.

– A perfect occasion to launch Day Care Center if at all your company is planning to set it. This can also be a very great retention tool.

Ideally each day needs to be celebrated as “Mothers Day” as they are special. However we tend to forget to appreciate people and relationships on daily basis. This is a good reminder for us to start afresh again.

These are general tips, I am sure there are many more like these. Looking forward to your views around these workday ideas.

101 Inspiring Women aka Rockstars

There are lists and lists. Some are focused only on how active Influencers are, some are focused on Klout Score, some are focused on how many followers they have etc etc. Well this following list does not focus on such technical parameters. This is a list of 101 Inspiring Women we all can and must learn from. A list of true champions in their respective professions. A list of Women who have inspired people who have worked with them, who have inspired other women to make an impact on society and the industry they belong to.

I have been fortunate to have met many of these Inspiring Women Leaders. Hence taking this opportunity to share a list of 101 Women who are a true inspiration.

Before I could pen down this list, there were some valid questions such as “What is your methodology to prepare this list?” “What tools are you using to rank them?” “What do you really mean by Influencers” etc. Also SEO was putting lot of pressure on me to give a Jazzier Title to this post. It was prompting me to have titles such as – “Top 101 Women Influencers on Social Media” “Top 101 Digital Women Influencers on Social Media” and so on. I did try my best to not fall in the trap of SEO Keywords 🙂 And most important the intent was not to rank or compare these amazing women leaders, but the intent was just to share a list of these amazing women who are role models to many out there.

So, let’s get to the list. They are in alphabetic order. PS: I am taking this liberty to break the rule for the 1st Name. She is truly the most inspiring and amazing women that I have ever met aka Neena Kamdar, My Mom 🙂 You would not believe, she is more active than me on Facebook and WhatsApp. A true Digital Rockstar Mom 🙂

Finally time to disclose “101 Inspiring Women aka Rockstars”

So what are you waiting for. All you need to do is follow these 101 Inspiring Women aka Rockstars. I am sure you too would have your own list of inspiring women aka Rockstars. So go ahead and share those names too. So that it can also help the readers to learn from their rich experience.

They are on Twitter!! What’s your excuse of not being there!!!!

Same old story. Why are you not on Twitter? Well, its too complicated, no time. Okay, fair enough. So what if I tell you that these 50+ CXO’s are on Twitter and are actively using it. Would you believe it!! If you still don’t believe it, how about this fact that they are normally more busy than an normal employee in any organization. Right!!!

Okay, let’s move to another excuse that normally HR Professionals make related to Twitter. Its Complicated. Well, how about Bell Curve!! Is it not Complicated!! (Do take this on a lighter note, hahaha ) The point that I am trying to convey is that it’s time for HR Professionals to take Twitter a bit seriously.

Twitter is a goldmine in terms of knowledge, insights, latest trends and much more. You could find and follow Industry Leaders in the space of Learning and Development, Compensation and Benefits, Generalist HR, Labor Laws, Digital Marketing, Social Media and so on and on and on.

There is a lot of talk about HR and Social Media and how they can embrace it. Also don’t forget that so called Gen Y is very much active on Twitter. It’s not about matching their pace, but about understanding the latest trends, their expectations, their needs. (If you give a DAMN about it, they too will do the same 😉 )

Don’t be an ostrich.Don’t put your head in the sand.

It’s time to look around beyond the excel sheets and PPT’s. I understand that this is your core job, but don’t be left behind, as the future HR folks are all set to embrace Social Media, especially Twitter. I had mentioned in my previous post that Twitter is my personal Learning Management System. Have learnt much more via Twitter than any other training programs in my entire career.

Following are some of the blogs that might help you to know more about what you are missing by not being on Twitter:

So are you convinced or should I confuse you more 😉 Jokes apart, Do give it a shot. Join the amazing world of Twitter.
