World’s biggest Social Media Statistics of Banks 2015 – 2018

Confession time!!! Had to wait for exactly 365 days to come up with this blog. Had made a small attempt to capture the social media statistics of banks in 2015 , 2016. 2017 and here we are exactly a year later to explore the progress of social numbers.

Being a student of social media, I do understand that it’s not an easy task to manage, create, implement, and track social media numbers along with its impact. So before you get into the data part, would like to thank the Digital Marketing, HR, Talent Acquisition, Corporate Marketing teams of all these banks who have surely created an impact on their customers, clients and candidates via their social sites.   • All of these banks have a dedicated YouTube Channel
  • SBI is the top bank with maximum followers on Twitter (Currently at 3.69 M )
  • 62% of these banks have a dedicate careers tab on their LinkedIn Company Page
  • IDFC Bank has seen an amazing growth in all of its Social Channels (200% increase on YouTube and 141% on Instagram)
  • HDFC has seen 62% increase on YouTube Subscribers , as compared to 2017
  • RBL Bank and Bandhan Bank has see maximum increase on their YouTube Handle – 448% and 483% increase since 2017

  • Zydus Group has seen 92% increase in their Twitter followers as compared to 2017.
  • Pfizer and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories have seen an good increase on their YouTube Channel in terms of subscribers ie 51% and 117% respectively

  • 62% of these banks have a dedicate careers tab on their LinkedIn Company Page
  • IDFC Bank has seen an amazing growth in all of its Social Channels (100% increase on LinkedIn, FB & Twitter)
  • HDFC has seen 100% increase on their Twitter Followers, as compared to 2016
  • RBL Bank has managed to create reach 135k followers on Twitter in 2017
  • Bandhan Bank has seen over 550% increase in their Facebook Likes as compared to 2016.
  • SBI again takes the cake as they have seen a 247% rise in subscribers on their YouTube channel.

  • Glenmark has managed to create 52% increase (Likes) on their as Facebook Page
  • Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has the highest increase in Twitter Followers as compared to 2015 ie 36%
  • Sun Pharma has seen an increase in LinkedIn followers ie 36% rise as compared to 2015
  • Till 2015, Zydus Group did not have a dedicated Twitter account. This year they have reached 554 followers
  • Pfizer and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories have seen an good increase on their YouTube Channel in terms of subscribers ie 47% and 65% respectively

  • 50 % of these banks have a dedicated YouTube Channel
  • SBI has recently crossed 1 M followers on their Twitter Account (Awesome)
  • 62% of these banks have a dedicate careers tab on their LinkedIn Company Page
  • IDFC Bank has the highest increase in Twitter Followers as compared to 2015 ie 97%
  • Kotak Bank has seen an increase in LinkedIn followers ie 93% rise as compared to 2015
  • RBL Bank has managed to create 88% increase (Likes) on their Facebook Page
  • Till 2015, Bandhan Bank did not have a dedicated LinkedIn Company Page. This year they have create it and has 1440 followers

Mother, Our Life Line

Celebrating Mother’s Day is a very modern world concept but a noble one. Moms have always been our lifeline, our support, our mentors, our best friends. We celebrate Mother’s Day this May 8th , since this day is absolutely close to my heart, I thought of sharing some workday ideas with the readers which are easy to implement.

Following are a list of idea that can be implemented very easily and will surely have a positive impact at workplace :

 A thank you note from the CEO or HR sent across to all working moms. This is a great way of reinstating your belief in them and letting them know how much they mean to the organization and how they are an integral part of your growth story

– If possible frame their Family portrait at their desk, nice surprise for them at the start of their day will just do wonders and make them smile for sure.

Invite their family members, especially their kids to office and let them see their work-spaces, meet their office friends and mingle with their peers, colleagues and bosses. Good way of integrating the extended family. You could also have a fun photo booth for the families, they can carry those memories back with them

– Organize a special lunch for all the working moms, if possible, tie-up with different outlets which can offer them discount on products, services. As I am sure, this group wouldn’t mind extra pampering and love.

– If possible invite a keynote speaker who can talk to them about career aspirations, work-life balance and the group can share tips with each other.

– A perfect occasion to launch Day Care Center if at all your company is planning to set it. This can also be a very great retention tool.

Ideally each day needs to be celebrated as “Mothers Day” as they are special. However we tend to forget to appreciate people and relationships on daily basis. This is a good reminder for us to start afresh again.

Are we (HR) ready for this Digital Change!!!!

2015 : WhatsApp was the most active social platform in India!!!

Does this mean anything for us as HR folks!!! Let’s look at some interesting insights related to India from the latest Digital Report via We Are Social.

a) Facebook is the top most active social platform in India:

Good news for Companies and Recruiters !! There is no doubt that Facebook is an amazing place for companies to showcase their culture, employer branding activities and so on. Recruiters too get an opportunity to connect with prospective candidates (Candidates who may not respond to so called InMails, do respond to FB Messages) Surprised? Do try it 🙂 

b) India with population of 1319 million has 1012 million mobile Connections:

Mobile is the future!!! We have been hearing this since long, right!! Well, it’s time for us to make the most of this. Companies which have invested in making their Careers Sites Mobile friendly, will have early advantage. This is also a great opportunity for HR folks to also work closely with IT teams to develop Mobile Apps for Internal and External folks.

c) On an average we spend 4 hours 22 mins on Internet via PC / Tablet and 3 hours 7 mins via Mobile:

Companies will have to analyze this and work on policies that will help employees to make the most of Social Media Channels at work. Some companies have already taken the lead and have provided Social Media access to their employees. Employees are your brand ambassadors and we must encourage them to share relevant company news and events.

d) 66% folks view web pages via Mobile and 33% via laptops and desktops:

Interesting insights for companies to work on their Digital Marketing Strategy. This will also help them to work on content that is relevant to the specific Digital Channels. Companies need to keep a balance between various channels that will help the audience to consume relevant information.
