My take on the “Social Networking Impact into Recruitments”

 Based on the Questionnaire that was filled by the 90 recruiters (Check out the 10 questions at http://mcaf.ee/c8ef2) , it can be safely said that Social Networking sites have a impact on the Recruitment Process. There is also a section of professionals who do not agree or think that it’s still a long way to go before there is an Impact. Considering that fact that the Recruitment process is becoming more challenging, as the search options are getting smaller and smaller.

Social Networking has given an option to the Recruitment industry to find resources. There is a huge potential in the social Networking sites, as there is lot of activity happening in this world. Recruiters are in constant need to find resources through alternative channels and resources that are untapped. Now a day every other candidate has been approached by one or the other recruiter for a Job Opening. There are requirements that might require specific skills, and after a point of time the market is exhausted, and the same set of resumes are on the Job Portal. Hence there is a need to find those professionals are hidden, or who are not actively looking for a job, but want to know about the Job Opening. 

Social networking pays a vital role in tapping such resources; especially LinkedIn is a pioneer site for looking for such candidates. Majorly it is used for Executive hiring’s. 

Ever wondered why there are no Job Postings on Job Portals for CEO, VP, Technical Director etc?????

The major reason for this is that there are hardly any Senior Candidates at this level who put their Resume on Portals. LinkedIn or other Networking sites have recently become a place where you can find such Executives, but the only difference is that they are here for Networking. But there are ways and means to get in touch with them, where you can discuss a job opportunity with them. 

The Tools for Recruitment are the same old Job Portals, Newspaper ads, References. No doubt that they are also very effective, but social networking sites have managed to add one more options and a good option, where in the visibility is on a large scale.

Sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and many other such networking sites have proved its place in the Recruitment Process. You might have noticed that every other company’s website, you will find the Logo of Twitter / Facebook, asking you to Follow them. In fact there are numerous Groups on LinkedIn, where you can join a Group, look for Jobs, Go through Job Postings etc. 

There has been a good success rates at which recruiters hire professionals via these channels. Also to add to it is that most of them are free of Cost. And also gives a huge space on the Web World out there.

 The following research was a small attempt to share information about the Social Networking sites, and its impact in today’s Recruitment process.
